No Worries, Just Birdies is a non-profit organization founded by sixth grader Sophia Macias. In January 2018, she started the organization to turn her love of golf into a viable way to improve her community and raise money for local schools. Macias’ creation hosts a variety of charity events including golf and basketball tournaments.

United Properties agent, Jen Blackwell, became involved with the non-profit after she helped the Macias family sell their home. Her friendship with the family blossomed quickly. “When Sophia’s dad, James Macias, was explaining the organization and Sophia’s aspirations for her community and for those less fortunate, it resonated with me instantly. At the time, they were hosting a golf tournament to put in playground equipment for special needs children. Having a special needs child of my own and having a special education professional background, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of,” she says.

Macias’ organization started small, but more people continue to gravitate toward the positive messaging. Last March, No Worries, Just Birdies became a registered 501(c) non-profit organization.

Blackwell says “As a BHHS agent, I never stop learning, and I always get to help people. From the toughest more challenging transactions to the smooth seamless ones—I love them all. I love how a simple business transaction transforms into a beautiful friendship. I love getting to know the families and watch them grow and change throughout the years.”

Blackwell urges others to get involved by contacting James Macias ([email protected])  or following No Worries Just Birdies on Facebook and Instagram for upcoming events, volunteering needs and sponsorship opportunities.
